Here are some images from Books2Eat 2007.

The event was to raise money for the Louise Hole Public Library in Edmonton, Alberta. Participants donated edible representations of literary works to be auctioned off in conjunction with other silent auction items.

Jeffery created a 2 tiered Belgian dark chocolate cake soaked in butterscotch taffy and filled with Bailey's italian butter cream. Decorated to match the cover of "It Happened One Autumn" the fondant covered cake was decorated with pulled and blown sugar trees and roses. The fountain was pulled sugar and the back drop was gum paste. Mere hours before the event the backdrop was smashed during trial fitting and a replacement had to be made on the fly. In the end the entire cake was made in 5 hours!!! Accidents happen.

Christine Lichuk, Jeffery's old Apprentice, now at the Westin Hotel participated with her second sculptural piece creating a representation of "The Giving Tree". The cake was donated by Bon Ton Bakery in Edmonton and decorated by Christine with an amazing gum paste tree and apples. The cake was a melt in your mouth hazelnut torte. The quality of the event was elevated this year, with cake donations from James Holehouse from Culinary Team Alberta Fame and a guest list of Provincial and Federal who's who from Mayor Mandel to Honourable Rona Ambrose making Books2Eat the event to attend.

Congratualtions to Jeffery for winning the Whitbread award for his cake at the event.
